THE MASS, THE EUCHARIST, HOLY COMMUNION EOCAIRIST
The Mass is the greatest treasure in the life of the Church. In St Canice's parish it is the centre of every day and every weekend. It is where we respond in love to Jesus' invitation at the Last Supper to "Do this in memory of me". Because Jesus loves us and because we love Jesus in return, we express our love for Him the way He requested us. Masses in the parish are celebrated on the Lord's Day, Sunday in the two churches, St Canice's Finglas and St Margaret's at the following times:

ST CANICE'S, Main Street, Finglas

Weekends: Vigil Mass: 7pm (Saturday evening)
Sundays 9am, 1030am and 12 noon
Weekdays: 10am

ST MARGARET'S

Weekends: Vigil Mass: 7pm (Saturday evening) and
Sundays : 11am
Wednesdays : 10am
First Fridays: 10am

PREPARATION FOR FIRST COMMUNION
First Holy Communion is intended as the gateway to weekly participation in the parish celebration of life, death and the resurrection of Jesus. Parents and children of the 2nd Classes in the parish schools are required to register for "First Holy Communion". After this registration process the family will be invited to meet with a priest as part of the sacramental preparation. At this meeting three things are asked of the parents, firstly that the child preparing for 1st Holy Communion would lead the family in prayer as they begin to eat their main meal together around a candle which is lit at one designated meal weekly, secondly that the parents would spend 15 minutes per week with their child exploring what they have learned in Religion class at school, and thirdly that the family would join in communion with their local parish community  every week at Sunday Mass. The 12.00pm Sunday Mass is put forward as the most suitable mass for children and all are welcome.
